The Subjunctive Present tense can be translated as expressing possibility or uncertainty (may).
Especially when it follows: quizás (perhaps), tal vez (maybe), capaz (capable).

The main difference between Subjunctive and Indicative is:
Subjunctive = possibility/subjectivity
Indicative = certainty/objectivity
Example (Subjunctive):
El doctor le recomendó que coma más verduras.
The doctor recommended that he eat more greens.
